Governor Jeff Landry’s re-election campaign says in a filing with the Louisiana Board of Ethics that it ended 2025 with almost $11 million in cash-on-hand. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says he’s not surprised.

“He’s left no stone unturned. He’s going to raise as much money as he can. He doesn’t want to give anyone even a small remote chance of challenging him. He wants to be governor again, and he’s going to do whatever it takes, and whatever amount of money he needs, he’ll raise it,” Pinsonat said.

The Landry for Louisiana campaign started 2025 with just over $4.5 million in cash-on-hand and raised more than $7 million throughout the year. Pinsonat says it’s a testament to the fact that when Landry sets his mind to something, he does it.

“Jeff wants to be re-elected governor. He wants to finish the job he started. Whether he ends up doing the entire eight years is another matter, but you can look for Jeff to run for re-election. And if it takes $50 million, he’ll raise it,” Pinsonat said.

Landry’s campaign says his current cash-on-hand is more than twice as much as that of former Governor John Bel Edwards at this point in his first term. Pinsonat says even though the election is more than a year and a half away, he does not expect anyone to seriously challenge Landry.

“When you got that much money, and you have a legislature that’s doing pretty much what you want, you’re accomplishing things. You’re bringing industry into Louisiana. You’re revising the tax laws. You’re helping industry, removing some of the tax burdens,” Pinsonat explained.
