Loranger murder suspect reportedly won't fight extradition

The suspect in the murder of a Loranger mother and kidnapping of her two daughters, one of whom was killed, could soon be in a Louisiana jail following his arrest last week in Jackson, Mississippi.

A Louisiana grand jury Thursday indicted 36-year-old Daniel Callihan on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. He is accused of stabbing 35-year-old Callie Brunett to death last week and abducting her daughters, 4-year-old Erin Brunett and 6-year-old Jalie Brunett.

Jackson authorities found Erin's body not far from where they arrested Callihan. Jalie was found injured but alive.

Callihan faces prosecution in three jurisdictions. In addition to the indictment for the murder in Tangipahoa Parish, Mississippi authorities are pursuing murder charges for the death of the little girl, and the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Orleans is preparing to bring federal kidnapping charges against Callihan.

WWL-TV reports Callihan has waived extradition and could be in federal custody in a Louisiana jail as soon as next week.
