A 37-year-old man is dead after a series of events in Terrebonne Parish last night.
Troopers say a truck driver lost a load in the middle of the road.
"An eastbound vehicle on US Hwy 90 struck a large object in the roadway that had fallen from a commercial vehicle," Trooper Ross Brennan explained.
He says another driver trying to avoid the spool of wire and subsequent crash swerved.
"The driver of the Honda attempted to avoid colliding with the disabled vehicle by taking evasive maneuvers, but lost control," Brennan said.
The swerving driver hit two pedestrians.
"The crash claimed the life of 37-year-old Benjamin Credeur of Rayne... Credeur suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The other pedestrian was transported to an out-of-area hospital with moderate injuries."
The trooper says the crash remains under investigation.
