Qualifying begins in one week from for Louisiana's U.S. House races, elections that were delayed by the court fight over redistricting.
Incumbents are likely to sail through the campaign, said Louisiana pollster John Couvillon.
"When you're talking about something as high up the food chain as a U.S. House race, my thought is if anybody substantial was going to run, that individual would have popped up," Couvillon said.
But there are a couple of open seats in Louisiana's U.S. House delegation.
"I would say the Cleo Fields seat that got transformed, and the seat that Julia Letlow is vacating," Couvillon said. "That does create the possibility of a December runoff, given that District Five and District Six have a Democratic presence."
The redistricting battle turned Democrat Cleo Field's Sixth district from being a majority Black district to majority white -- and majority Republican.
Any surprises on the horizon with Louisiana congressional election qualifying 1 week away?
