The state’s film tax-credit program brings Hollywood to Louisiana. It also costs taxpayers up to 150-million-dollars per-year. And now, the tax credit could continue unaltered for the next five years, under legislation approved by a state Senate committee yesterday. That said, the House bill must still clear several more legislative hurdles before becoming a reality.
We’re traveling this year, despite high prices for just about everything involved in getting to those destinations. NerdWallet’s Travel Price Inflation Index was up 9% in the first quarter. But, the good news is that there was a bit of a reprieve in April. Airline-ticket prices dropped 2.5% from March … while hotel prices and vehicle-rental prices each fell by more than 3%.
On Wall Street, futures are higher as the market wraps up a volatile week with the major indexes headed for a split decision.
