A 34-year-old man is dead after a crash near Yscloskey.

"Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorized bicycle rider on LA Highway 46 (Florissant Highway) near Chevron Plant Road in St. Bernard Parish," Trooper Kyle Wagner said in a news release.

It happened Tuesday night shortly after 11:00pm.

"The crash claimed the life of 34-year-old Jonathan Spino of Chalmette."

Wagner says Spino was riding the motorized bicycle and pulling a wagon.

"At the same time, a 2001 Ford F-250 was traveling east on LA 46. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford struck the motorized bicycle and wagon in the roadway. Neither the bicycle nor the wagon was equipped with illumination devices or reflective tape."

The trooper says medical personnel could not save the man.

"Spino, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene."

There were charges filed at the scene.

"Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash; however, as part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis. This crash remains under investigation."
