A Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputy used Flock cameras to search for his ex-fiancée's license plate thousands of times, the sheriff's office says, so they fired him.
According to sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde, a media representative, this week asked about possible misconduct by a JPSO deputy. The sheriff's office then opened an internal investigation.
The following day, investigators interviewed the deputy, who admitted to the searches and said his former fiancée knew about it.
The sheriff's office confirmed this with the woman, who also told them that she did not feel as if she was a victim of any wrongdoing and even asked that the deputy not lose his job over it.
Nevertheless, the sheriff's office said misusing the Flock camera system is a "serious violation of JPSO policy," and Sheriff Joe Lopinto fired the deputy.
