Louisiana economic development leaders are promoting a future of expanded nuclear energy and nuclear industry growth in the state.
Greater New Orleans Inc. recently joined Governor Jeff Landry at a major annual energy industry event called CERAWeek.
GNO Inc. Michael Hecht President & CEO says, "As energy dominates the world stage, Louisiana fairly dominated the stage at CERAWeek."
The governor shared Louisiana's plan with the mission of "empowering Louisiana’s people through energy dominance, robust job creation, and industrial sector growth."
He told the global energy industry leaders, government officials, and experts how the state wants to build a diversified economic future where expanding Louisiana’s nuclear sector strengthens the state’s overall energy portfolio, enables key industries to thrive, and positions Louisiana as a leader in the nuclear supply chain.
A delegation of 12 organizations and agencies represented Louisiana - more than any other state.
A two day summit is set for late April in New Orleans to bring together senior industry, government, and finance leaders together with the goal "to turn the state’s nuclear advantages into deployable projects, strategic partnerships, and investment-ready opportunities."
It will be at The Windsor Court, April 27-29, 2026.
Organizers say, "Join us for this two-day summit as we This summit moves Louisiana from strategy to execution in building a competitive nuclear future focused on manufacturing readiness, generation deployment, fuel development, and capital alignment."
Australian company Woodside Energy is already making an $18 Billion investment in western Louisiana.
