For the second year in a row, the Louisiana Office of Tourism’s efforts in California at the annual Rose Parade were rewarded.

The “Explore Louisiana” float took home a second consecutive Showmanship Award in the 135th Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.

The float, decked out in a purple, green and gold color scheme, featured second-line umbrellas and a giant Mardi Gras jester.

It also came complete with performances from Pelican State musicians like James Burton, Amanda Shaw, and Grammy-nominated Zydeco musician Sean Ardoin.

“Louisiana is a perfect fit for the theme of music. Music is a part of our culture, from Mardi Gras to our festivals, to our daily lives. We will kick off our new marketing campaign, Year of Music, in 2024 with this parade and we know we’re going to put on a show the audience will never forget,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Our riders this year represent the celebratory spirit of Louisiana and our performers are bringing authentic Louisiana flare.”

The float also brought international attention to Louisiana thanks to the Tournament of Roses Parade’s worldwide broadcast.
