A new survey ranks Louisiana among the stingiest states when it comes to tipping their bartenders.

The report, published by UpgradedPoints.com, looked into how much people add in when closing our their tab at the end of the night, and it ranked all 50 states.

The study determined that the average American tips 20% of their tab when they’re ready to call it a night.

However, a good many consumers in the Pelican State tip less than half that – 21.6 % of Louisiana’s bargoers tip 10% or less, the third worst in the nation.

Only Mississippi (29.4%) and Texas (28%) posted higher numbers of low tippers.

The state’s overall average end-of-night tip across the state is also below the national average at 15%.

The study also found that the state’s favorite alcoholic beverage during a night out is beer, the most desired beer is Corona Light, and the cocktail of choice is the margarita.

In all the survey polled over 2,200 Americans.
