Louisiana state troopers say overnight Saturday night and early Sunday morning were a deadly period on the roads of Tangipahoa Parish. Two people died in two separate crashes, one of which involved a go-kart.
The first crash happened around 6 p.m. on LA 1065 near Goudeaux Road near Tickfaw. Troopers say Paul Dykes, 40, ran into the back of a go-kart that was on the highway. The go-kart, investigators say, had no lights on it. Dykes later died at an area hospital.
The second crash happened on LA 1045 near Courtney Lane near Amite. Troopers say Datrevian Hamler, 25, of Greensburg, ran off the highway and hit a culvert. Hamler died at the scene.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
