The town of Oxford, Mississippi is preparing for an influx of purple and gold, for this weekend's much-anticipated LSU/Ole Miss game.
"We are expecting a big, a very big number," said Kinney Ferris, the executive director of Visit Oxford. "I think it might be a record-breaker."
Ferris says this game is all anyone in town has been talking about for months.
"I think we're all anxiously awaiting the influx of people, just, you know, having Coach Kiffin back, all the drama that is around that," she said.
Ole Miss fans will likely be fired up, as LSU head coach Lane Kiffin returns after leaving the Rebels program just as they were preparing for the 2025 College Football Playoff.
Ferris says this weekend may break the record of nearly 200,000 visitors to Oxford, set in 2024, when Ole Miss hosted the Georgia Bulldogs.
"It's a big influx of people when you are in a town that's used to 50 to 70,000 in a day, so, yeah, it'll be a huge crowd," she said.
