After selecting her in the second round of the WNBA Draft, the Connecticut Sun released former LSU point guard Alexis Morris Wednesday.
Morris was a key piece of the team that brought LSU its first ever national championship in women’s basketball five weeks ago.
With 15.4 points per game, Morris was LSU’s second-leading scorer and also notched 4.1 assists per game.
Morris upped her game in the NCAA tournament, averaging 16.8 points per game and putting on a show in the fourth quarter of the title game, helping LSU to a 102-85 win over Iowa in the final.
Morris was taken #22 overall in the draft and will have the opportunity to see if she fits with another team, but with only 12 teams total inhabiting the WNBA, earning a roster spot is tough.
