The man arrested for allegedly wounding his mother and a nurse inside Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport could be the suspect in Sunday’s fatal machete attack at a New Orleans gas station.
As The Times-Picayune | The Advocate reports, authorities in Shreveport tell a local news station that a man driving a similar green Saturn Vue SUV, attacked two nurses Monday afternoon.
Authorities in Shreveport say the hospital workers’ injuries are non-life-threatening. Shreveport police arrest records identified the alleged hospital attacker as 27-year-old Zaokoye Chatman, according to WWLTV.
In New Orleans, authorities said on Sunday a man was standing by a gas pump at a gas station in the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue when he was attacked by a suspect wielding a machete. They say the suspect then drove away in a green 2008 Saturn Vue with damage to the front driver's side.
Family members identified the man killed at the gas station as 59-year-old Donald Cargo of Meraux.
Although the similarities between the two attacks are striking, neither Shreveport PD nor NOPD have confirmed a connection between the two attacks.
