The New Orleans Police Department says they arrested a man accused of attacking and killing a man with a machete in Treme.
The attack happened back in April in the 1300 block of North Galvez Street.
According to Nola.com, police say 59-year-old Don Woods allegedly got into a fight with 31-year-old Derek Dupre and struck him with a machete before getting into his vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Dupre died from a sharp and blunt force trauma to his torso according to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office. Dupre was a Houma native and leaves behind a son according to Nola.com.
Woods faces 40 years in prison if convicted of his charge of manslaughter. He posted a $35,000 bond when he was arrested back in April.
