Northshore authorities are investigating after a couple was found dead this morning.
"Deputies are on the scene of a double homicide of a man and a woman in the 600 block of MLK just outside the city limits of Amite," according to TPSO Public Information Officer Ashley Rodrigue.
She says the investigation is active and ongoing.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's office posted initial information shortly after 8:00am.
"Just before 5 a.m., a woman called 911 reporting having been shot at a mobile home... Amite Police initially responded to discover the woman and a man both dead from gunshot wounds. While the identity of the victims is being withheld at this time, they are believed to be a live-in boyfriend and girlfriend both in their late 20s."
Rodrigue says they are asking for help figuring out who shot the victims and why.
"TPSO Criminal Investigations detectives, with assistance from a State Police Crime scene team, are actively working this investigation, but could use the public’s help especially to determine any motive or suspects."
