A man is dead after an early morning house fire on the Westbank.
According to a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the fire happened around 1:40 a.m. on Mercedes Place near Carol Sue Avenue in Terrytown.
According to deputies, firefighters found the victim, identified only as an adult male, inside the house after they put out the fire. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene from fire-related injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. However, firefighters say their initial investigation indicated that the fire was accidental.
