
A violent night in New Orleans leaves one person dead and another in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound after separate shootings in the city.
The first shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday on St. Claude Avenue near Poland Avenue in the Bywater. Police say Tremaine Sturgis, 46, shot and killed the 70-year-old victim during an argument. The victim died at the scene. Police say they arrested Sturgis about 10 blocks away from the crime scene near the corner of St. Claude and Piety Street shortly afterward.
The other shooting happened around 2 a.m. Saturday on Loyola Avenue near Howard Avenue in the Central Business District. The victim is in the hospital. Police did not disclose the victim's condition.
