A man took on a female armed robber, getting her gun away from her and shooting her in the chest.
It happened early Friday morning near Carondolet and Canal Streets.
NOPD says the would-be attacker allegedly approached the man around 2am.
The man, grabbed for the gun and struggled with the woman.
He reportedly shot the woman in the chest with the weapon.
EMS transported the woman to a hospital.
The victim was not charged in the incident as NOPD said the man acted in self-defense.
The woman has yet to be arrested.
NOPD has provided no other details.
