A man was fatally shot in the 7th Ward says the New Orleans Police Department.
The homicide happened at about 7:24 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of N. Prieur and St. Anthony Streets. Initial reports say officers found an unresponsive male on the porch of a residence and having sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
Murders in the 7th Ward are up 33% according to the New Orleans City Council’s Crime Dashboard. So far, eight murders have happen this year, which is up from six murders last year.
