New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at the corner of N. Claiborne Ave. and Desire St.
Police say shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a car crash along with shots fired at that location.
Officers arriving on the scene said they found a 41-year-old man in one of the vehicles, suffering from a gunshot wound.
"Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead," police said. “The driver of the second vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.”
