A man is dead after a shooting in Downtown New Orleans. Cops say it happened near Loyola Avenue and the Pontchartrain Expressway.
New Orleans Police got the call just after midnight.
"The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours today (July 6, 2023), in the 1000 block of Loyola Avenue that left one person dead," according to a news release. "At about 12:03 a.m., NOPD Sixth District detectives were notified of a report of shots fired at the location."
When cops got there, they say they found an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds.
"The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he later expired."
