The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that left a 58-year-old man dead.
The fatal shooting happened Wednesday at around 10:23 p.m. at the intersection of North Broad and Hope Street.
“NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency medical technicians pronounced the man dead on the scene,” said an NOPD report.
Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify who may be responsible and a motive for the killing.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim’s identity once an autopsy is complete.
