A man was injured in a shooting near the corner of Iberville and Royal Street.
"Officers responded to a call of a shooting incident shortly before 10 50 pm in the 700 block of Iberville Street," Sgt. Barry Fletcher said in an email. "Officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound."
He says New Orleans EMS transported the victim to hospital.
Fletcher did not share the victim's condition.
Witnesses say it started with two men arguing, before one pulled out a gun and shot the other.
The shooter ran away.
