Man shot in N.O. as city braces for Ida

The impending danger of a category four hurricane is still not enough to halt violent crime in New Orleans.

While much of the city is hunkered down waiting for Ida to make landfall, the NOPD is also investigating a shooting that happened in this morning in the 7th Ward.

The shooting happened near the intersection of AP Tureaud Ave. and N. Johnson St.

“Initial reports show one adult male arrived at the hospital by private conveyance after sustaining a gunshot wound. No further details are currently available,” said an NOPD report.

The shooting comes as city leaders urged everyone to stay sheltered and avoid anything that would send someone to the hospital, which is already stretched to the limit with COVID patients.

Hurricane Ida’s maximum sustained winds have increased to nearly 150 mph as it bears down on Louisiana.
