An early morning shooting in Old Jefferson has left one person a dead and another person in a hospital.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Brooklyn Avenue near Lance Street, a few block south of the Jefferson Highway.
According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto, deputies responded after dispatchers received several 911 calls of shots fired in the area. When deputies arrived, they found the two victims, both men, inside a home. One of those men died at the scene. The other is reportedly stable and recovering in a hospital. However, authorities did not disclose his condition.
Detectives are working to figure out a motive and possible suspects.
