Cops responded to gunfire this morning in New Orleans.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and N Miro Street," Officer Reese Harper said in an email.
The call came in just before 5:30am.
"Initial reports show an adult male sustained a gunshot wound to his body. The victim was transported to a local hospital."
About four hours later NOPD called the SWAT team to a home nearby.
"Initial information shows a subject believed to be responsible for a criminal incident has barricaded themself inside a residence at the location," the NOPD Public Affairs Division said in a news release.
The standoff came to an end before noon. The suspect was apprehended. He did suffer some sort of injuries, but was treated and then booked into jail. NOPD issued the following release:
Today, the New Orleans Police Department has arrested 51-year-old Sean Cobbs in connection with the shooting of a 51-year-old New Orleans man. The offense occurred shortly before 6:00 A.M., in the 2600 block of North Miro Street.
According to investigators, Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting, and upon their arrival, officers located a 51-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his body. The victim was transported to a local hospital via private conveyance.
Officers spotted the Cobbs, who then fled into a residence within the block. Cobbs barricaded himself inside. Cobbs surrendered a short time later to members of the Special Operations Division.
Cobbs is being arrested Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Aggravated Battery by Shooting and Illegally Discharging of a Firearm.
