Louisiana has been leading the nation in flu since before Thanksgiving.
A month later, Influenza is still raging in the state.
The Centers for Disease Control have Louisiana listed with "very high" flu rates.
"The flu is really taking off, particularly here in Louisiana," Dr. Fred Lopez at LSU Health New Orleans told WWL's Tommy Tucker. "We are one of only five state states with that level of flu-like illness."
Lopez says there are medications to shorten the impact of influenza once you get it.
He says the flu shot is still available too.
