Cops say they have caught a man they labeled a "person of interest" in the murders of at least four people and the critical wounding of a child.

"Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet confirms that Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, of Houma, has been taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation into the incidents in the Ashland Drive area," TPSO posted.

Sunday police were called to the 200 block of Ashland Drive after a child was stabbed and severely injured.

A search of nearby homes revealed four dead stabbing victims.

Investigators have been looking in the area for anyone else who may have been stabbed.

They determined Solet may have been involved.

He has previously faced stabbing charges.

Houma Police arrested Solet in 2019 for allegedly stabbing a woman at a hotel. They booked him for second-degree murder. Further details about the outcome of that case were not immediately available.

"This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available," according to TPSO.

Sheriff Soignet called for patience as investigators continue their work.
