A successful paving project from a few years ago is back and crews are on the Westbank, picking up where they left off.

In 2019 Max Pave fixed open patches of roadway left behind by water line work by the Department of Public Works and the Sewerage and Water Board.

Now, Max Pave II is underway.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya re-introduced Max Pave II to the public at her press briefing on Thursday.

“We introduced Max Pave several years ago in partnership with DPW working with the Sewerage and Water Board.  We have utilized, or are utilizing $8.6 million of bond money,” Cantrell says.  “That will allow us to activate Phase II of Max Pave.  And so the contractors have been selected, awarded.  Fleming Construction is the contractor.

The City’s work will be performed in the following sequence, working in neighborhoods with fewer blocks under construction and that do not have planned construction projects in the near future.

Right now, Fleming is looking at conducting repairs on open cuts in the streets as they get underway on the Westbank.

“They have begun their assessments throughout the city of New Orleans.  I know it started with repaving efforts on the Westbank.  I believe that was last week, but they will address over 550 service cuts throughout the city of New Orleans.”

Residents will be notified by flyer when work is being performed on their block and given advance notice of work that would impact driveway and walkway access.

Mayor Cantrell promises Fleming Construction will be held to a high standard of quality and cooperation:

“Make no mistake about it.  I have put all contractor on notice, when they’re working on the streets and the neighborhoods in the city of New Orleans they have to be accountable for making sure that they’re reporting, they’re giving proper notice to residents so they know what to expect.”
