Helena Moreno will win the New Orleans' mayor's race, WWL election analyst John Couvillon predicts.
Moreno has been the front-runner ever since she announced for the race in January.
Couvillon says the returns so far also show that J.P. Morrell and Matthew Willard will win their council-at-large races.
And Michelle Woodfork is projected to defeat incumbent Sheriff Susan Hutson.
In the New Orleans City Council's district seats, incumbent councilmembers Freddie King (District C) and Eugene Green (District D) have cruised to reelection. District B Councilmember Lesli Harris was automatically reelected when no one qualified to run against her.
The races for New Orleans City Council Districts A and E are to be headed to runoffs. In District A, which includes Uptown and Lakeview, Holly Friedman and Aimee McCarron are in a close election. In District E, which consists of New Orleans East and the Lower 9th Ward, former Councilmember Cyndi Nguyen will meet Jason Hughes in the November 15 runoff.
