A late-night five car crash on I-10 East near Bonnabel Boulevard in Metairie has claimed the life of a 16-year-old juvenile.
The initial investigation revealed a 4-vehicle crash occurred in the left lane of I-10 east near Bonnabel Boulevard, which involved a 2017 Toyota Rav 4, a 2016 Nissan Altima, a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2005 Honda S20.
As a result of that crash, the passenger of the Honda S20, Christopher Cruz, along with the driver of the Honda S20 and the driver of the Nissan Altima exited their vehicles and were standing on the roadway near the left shoulder.
A 2009 Pontiac G8, driven by 39-year-old Carlton L.
Williams, approached the location of the initial crash and struck the Toyota Rav 4 and the three occupants near the left shoulder, including Christopher Cruz, the 16-year-old juvenile.
Cruz sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Nissan Altima suffered severe injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.
The driver of the Honda S20 suffered minor injuries and was also treated at a local hospital.
Williams was uninjured as a result of the crash.
Impairment is unknown at this time and blood samples were obtained from all drivers as a part of the ongoing investigation.
