With Mardi Gras parades canceled and cruise lines canceling voyages, tourism in New Orleans continues to be a challenge.
New Orleans and Company Executive Vice President, Walt Leger says this year’s nontraditional Mardi Gras season is a challenge for the city.
“I think the industry shares the same feelings that we all have, which is; we want covid to be over... we all want our people to be safe… and we want our people, and our businesses, to be able to get back to work...and to thrive, but at this point that continues to be a challenge,” said Leger.
Leger says the pandemic has forced the city’s tourism leaders to think of creative ways to keep New Orleans a relevant tourist destination.
“So that when the time is right... they will choose New Orleans as a place they want to emerge from the pandemic by visiting,” said Leger.
