New Orleans health officials say the city’s covid numbers are not good and as a result, bars can no longer serve alcohol indoors.
City officials say the Louisiana Department of Health reported a weekly COVID-19 positivity rate of 5.5% for Orleans Parish for the second consecutive week. Last week, the city had a 5.3% positive case rate.
As a result, the city required to follow the state's modified Phase Two guidelines, which forces bars, breweries and indoor sporting events to stop all indoor alcohol sales in the parish. Bars are still allowed offer outdoor seating service and can sell alcohol to-go cups.
That rule will go into effect at 11 p.m., when bars are required to close for nightly hours.
