AAA says this year will be a record breaking year for Thanksgiving travel both by road and air with, 71 million people estimated to head out by car and 5 million will pack airplanes.
So, odds are you or someone you know will be getting away soon.
Erin Burns, Spokeswoman at Louis Armstrong International Airport has a few tips to smooth out your holiday air travel plans.
"We advise passengers to arrive two hours prior to boarding time. By that we mean in the airport terminal."
Burns says that will mean you need to plan extra time for parking.
"We have plenty of parking, however there will be even more people looking for a spot as well."
She says there is one quick tip to help alleviate some of that stress too.
"You can reserve a spot twenty four hours in advance. That way you have a spot ready when you arrive."
No advisement yet on how to get through TSA quicker.....
