Sunday’s storms could bring flash flooding to New Orleans. That’s why city leaders are giving the green light to neutral ground parking until the weather passes.
According to a NOLAReady, neutral ground parking will be allowed until 6 p.m. Sunday. Drivers who take advantage of the loosened parking restrictions are reminded not to block sidewalks, intersections, or streetcar tracks.
The National Weather Service says the storm system is expected to push into New Orleans early Sunday morning, bringing with it winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, heavy rains, and the possibility of large hail. NWS meteorologists also say tornadoes are not out of the question, as forecast models show the storm strengthening as it pushes through Acadiana into southeastern part of the state.
