The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans is advising residents in parts of New Orleans East to boil water after pressure dropped below minimum safe levels early this morning.
The advisory is for Little Woods and the Oak Island subdivision:
- Hayne Blvd from Paris Rd to Vanderkloot Ave
- Paris Rd from Hayne Blvd to I-10 Service Rd
- I-10 Service Rd from Paris Rd to Bundy Rd
- Bundy Rd/Vanderkloot Ave from I-10 Service Rd to Hayne Blvd
- Entire Oak Island Subdivision
"Water pressures in this area fell below 20 pounds per square inch (psi) due to a water main break that is impacting a large part of the neighborhood," the utility said. "Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans crews are responding and are working to make the repair and get water pressure back to normal."
In addition all residents to boiling tap water, or using bottled water to drink, cook, clean food or brush teeth until further notice, residents with compromised immune systems should also use safe water to wash hands, shower or bathe.
SWBNO says it will notify residents as soon as test results show the water is safe.
