
UPDATE: New Orleans reports 911 service has been restored.
A 911 fiber line was cut today and it has knocked out service in New Orleans and other parts of the state.
Anyone in New Orleans having an emergency should dial (504) 513-6594.
The service outage has also impacted New Orleans 311, and even non-emergency numbers at the New Orleans Police Department.
The Orleans Parish Communications District could not provide an estimate on when service might be restored.
In Jefferson Parish, residents are asked to call (504) 227-1400. Kenner residents can also send a text to 911.
St. Tammany residents in the First District (Slidell area) should call (985) 726-800; in the Second District (Mandeville, Bush, Folsom, Covington), (985) 276-1300; and in the Third District (Madisonville & parts of Covington), (985) 276-1501.
