New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and city health officials this morning will lay out the procedures for further reopening of the city.
"We're looking good," Mayor Cantrell told reporters Wednesday. "We are looking at easements that will not take us back, but will only continue to move us forward."
Cantrell has talked about the importance of waiting to see if Labor Day weekend and resuming in-class education for New Orleans public school students significantly impacted the city's coronavirus numbers.
"There have been no new deaths for a week," said Beau Tidwell, Mayor Cantrell's spokesman. "Our positivity rate is at one point six. The fatality rate is at four point seven percent. Hospital capacity is stable."
The mayor had called an 11 a.m. news conference today to lay out those plans. You can hear it live on WWL-AM/FM and streaming on WWL.com
