After a suspicious fire over the weekend at New Orleans Civil District Court, the court building at 421 Loyola is closed until Ash Wednesday.
Civil District Court proceedings may proceed via video conferencing, with consent of the judge and parties. The court will attempt to contact all parties to advise of the status of scheduled proceedings during this period.
Meanwhile, the clerk of court's office is temporarily relocating to 1340 Poydras Street, 4th floor, to accept filings in person. Filings can still be faxed to (504) 592-9128 or (504) 592-9117, and attorneys can still file electronically with the remote access system.
First City court eviction hearings will be held at Lakefront Airport starting this Wednesday.
Second city court at the Algiers Courthouse will remain open and operate solely from the Westbank.
