The city of New Orleans is creating a plaza for food trucks not far from the Superdome.
The Earhart Food Truck Plaza will be on Earhart Blvd. from S. Claiborne Ave. to Magnolia St.
It will feature eight vendors on a thoroughfare that serves as an entry point to the Central Business District.
"My Administration is in lockstep with the community's needs and saw an opportunity to make this intersection more functional and aesthetically pleasing for food truck vendors," said New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell. " I am excited about what this project will do for our small businesses and our city as a whole."
The project costs an estimated $2.1 million to improve drainage and make other improvements to the area including pedestrian benches and seating areas, waste receptacles, and landscaping.
The city says the project will support tailgating activities for events at Caesar's Superdome and is expected to be ready by Super Bowl LIX in February.
