New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a homicide in the 1900 block of Josephine Street.
Police dispatched officers to the scene after a neighbor called to report a foul odor.
Officers found a woman's body wrapped in a blanket.
"The case was initially reported as being an unclassified death," said police in a statement. "The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and confirmed the victim died as a result of a homicide."

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
