New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams and his mother are the two latest victims of carjackings in the Crescent City.
“OPDA confirms that DA Williams and his 78-year-old mother were car jacked at gun point as he was helping her into a car," district attorney's office spokesman Keith Lampkin said in a statement to WWL. "DA Williams and his mother were unharmed and both thank the NOPD for their hard work tonight and every night responding to crime victims.”
That carjacking happened late Monday night in the Lower Garden District. Lampkin did not provide any further details about the carjacking.
According to the New Orleans Police Department's major offense log, the carjacking happened at 10 p.m. Monday on Race Street near Constance Street. Two unknown suspects approached Williams and his mother and demanded his black Lincoln Navigator. The report says Williams complied, and one of the suspects drove away in the car, which police later recovered.
This is a developing story.
