When it comes to New Orleans, big events like Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, and even the Super Bowl often grab the spotlight. But tourism leaders say the city’s smaller fall festivals are just as important.
“Fall and winter can look like a slower time, but it’s actually one of the best times to experience New Orleans,” said Kelly Schultz with New Orleans and Company. “The temperatures are better, and the festivals have a really strong local and cultural vibe.”
From Gretna Fest to Fried Chicken Fest to the Krewe of Boo parade, Schultz says visitors are starting to figure out New Orleans is a fall destination.
She notes that the organization has made a concerted effort to market this season to travelers.
"We have campaigns created to drive the message of the city as a top fall destination."
And it’s not just leisure events.
“Conferences and corporate meetings are vital during this time,” Schultz said. “They provide an economic connection between the bigger celebrations, and they help keep business flowing year-round.”
The fall event calendar provides temperate getaways for travelers, and local feel good vibes for natives.
