Three popular New Orleans music venues, Tipitina's, Maple Leaf, and d.b.a. in the Marigny, are going to require proof of COVID vaccination as a condition of admission.
The policy goes into effect Friday, July 30 according to a statement released by the bar owners on Wednesday.
The clubs will also accept a negative COVID test from the previous 72 hours. This comes after DJ Soul Sister announced her dance parties at the Hi-Ho Lounge would be open only to the vaccinated.
"DJ Soul Sister's move was an inspiration to us," Tipitina's co-owner and drummer for the band Galactic Stanton Moore told The Advocate's Keith Spera. "We applaud her for leading the way. That's the right direction. It's the right thing to do."
Proof of vaccination needs to come from the provider of the shots or negative test, along with a matching valid ID.
