New Orleans Police detectives want assistance after an early morning carjacking at a gas station.
"NOPD is asking for the public's help in identifying a perpetrator and locating the vehicle taken in an armed carjacking," according to a news release. "At around 2:40 a.m., today (June 14, 2026), the victim reported being approached by the suspect... in the 5000 block of St. Claude Avenue."
Cops say the suspect took the victim's vehicle at gunpoint and drove off.
"The suspect, (pictured next to the carjacked vehicle), is described as a Black male between 14-16 years of age, and was wearing a blacked hoodie, light blue pants, and a mask. Investigators say he was armed with a silver and black semi-automatic pistol. The stolen vehicle is described as a gray, 2022 Nissan Sentra with Louisiana license plate 471 GAJ."
Police warn that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
"If anyone knows his identity, or whereabouts or knows the whereabouts of the pictured vehicle, they are urged to contact Fifth District detectives at (504) 658-6050 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111."
This was one of two carjackings in an eight hour period.
A Door Dash driver reported being carjacked by a suspect in a ski mask at Piety Street and Royal Street Saturday night.
That vehicle was later recovered.
