A new report says New Orleans definitely outpunches its weight when it comes to producing great athletes.
"New Orleans has produced the 7th most NFL players in the whole of the US," according to sports betting site OLBG.
This, despite the city not ranking in the nation's top 50 in population.
It's not just football.
"30 NBA athletes have been born in New Orleans," the report finds. "New Orleans is the birthplace of 99 MLB athletes."
New Orleans has produced 235 NFL players.
Overall, the city ranks 14th for "major league athletes" across all sports.
Chicago has produced more major league athletes than any other US city, totaling 1,061. Los Angeles took second place, with 818 athletes born in the city, whilst Philadelphia’s total of 717 athletes placed the city in third.
The study notes that while New Orleans stands out in football, basketball and baseball; the city has not produced a single NHL player.
