New Orleans police are searching for a man they say is the suspect in a first-degree rape.
The incident happened last Monday around 1:40 a.m. on St. Anthony Street near North Tonti Street.
Authorities did not describe the nature of the crime. Under Louisiana law, first-degree rape is defined as a rape perpetrated upon a person younger than 13-year-old, a person aged 65 or older, a disabled person, when two or more people commit the crime, or when the suspect uses force, the threat of violence, or a weapon to commit the crime.
Surveillance cameras in the area captured images of the suspect, who was wearing a zip-up black hooded sweatshirt and a grey golf-style cap.
