The city of New Orleans will be spraying for mosquitoes Wednesday night. The city says they are targeting species known to carry the West Nile virus.
Mosquito spray trucks will be sent to the following areas:
-West End, Lakeview and City Park in the area bounded by the parish line, Lakeshore Drive, Wisner Avenue and I-610
-Lower City Park and Mid-city in the area bounded by Orleans Avenue, I-610, Bayou St. John and City Park Avenue
-Gentilly in the area bounded by Bayou St. John, Filmore Avenue, Elysian Fields Avenue and Lakeshore Drive
-Lake Terrace/Lake Oaks in the area bounded by Lakeshore Drive, Franklin Avenue, Leon C. Simon Drive and Elysian Fields Avenue
-South 7th Ward and Iberville in the area bounded by Canal Street, North Claiborne Avenue/North Robertson Street, Franklin Avenue and St. Claude Avenue/North Rampart Street
-Marigny in the area bounded by North Rampart Street/St. Claude Avenue, Franklin Avenue, North Peters Street and Esplanade Avenue
Spraying will happened between 8 p.m. and midnight.
