The 4th of July weekend is bringing a lot of people to New Orleans.
"The Essence Festival and July 4th holiday weekend are expected to drive strong hotel occupancy across New Orleans, with demand supported by major events, holiday travel and meetings and conventions taking place in the city," New Orleans & Company said in a news release.
They say, however, there is still room for those who want to make a last minute booking.
Hotels are forecast to be more than 80% full Friday and Saturday nights.

"Essence Festival remains the main event of the weekend, while New Orleans is also seeing strong transient travel demand for the July 4th holiday. Two additional groups arriving Saturday, July 4, are also contributing to weekend hotel performance: the National Strength & Conditioning Association, with 3,056 total room nights, and the National Association of Community & Restorative Justice, with 2,456 total room nights."
Officials say these are solid summer numbers.
"The weekend’s projected performance reflects the continued strength of New Orleans as a destination for major cultural events, meetings and conventions, and holiday leisure travel. "
